E Komo Mai! — Welcome to the beginning of the opening of the Trailmarker Pohaku, at the entrance to Ahupua’a o Waimea (Waimea Valley), the jewel of the North Shore, O’ahu.
For the first time today, the public is seeing this permanent marker of significance in Hawaiian tradition. It proclaims welcome to the world from the sacred depths of Ahupua’a o Waimea.

• Ohe Pu! Blowing of the bamboo, Makua ‘o’o Kawika Au
• Oli ame Hula Kahiko Opio; Dance and traditional chant by the Au Sisters: Lokomaika’i, Uilani and Kona Au
• Hula He Hawai’i Au (“I Am Hawaiian”) with Musicians: Kupuna Kanani Awai, Makua ‘o’o Coco Leong, Makua ‘o’o Randy Ho’opai
• Answered Kahea Kupuna Aunty Betty Jenkins teaches how we got here; the idea, the people, talkstory; why the Pohaku are significant for Waimea
• Makana: A gift offering from the Valley of kupuna pohaku fragments
• Placing of Pohaku – Makua ‘o’o Rick Ortiz (pohaku practioner) will direct us in placement of some additional Waimea stones, to complete the design together
• Slack-Key Music, Vocals: Owana Salazar, a special song for Waimea
• Next Steps: The future of the Pohaku; what needs to be done, and how everyone can participate
